Behind the Scenes: The School of Life, Bootstrapped Passion, and Timeless Mentors
Welcome back to Inside 25/8 Fintech.
Every week, we use this space to step out of the daily transactional noise and look at the core principles that drive long-term business success. This week, as autumn begins and schools across Austria open their doors again, we connect three deeply personal yet highly strategic threads from our engine room: why real-world execution always trumps classroom theory, how building a "Fintech Boutique" from scratch without massive investor capital creates unshakeable passion, and how timeless lessons from legendary mentors shape the way we connect with people today.
The School of Life: Why Real Execution Trumps Theory 🏫
This week, the new school year started across all federal states in Austria. Watching the next generation head into their classrooms made me reflect on my own path. Exactly 28 years ago, in 1998, I completed my degree at the commercial school.
Back then, like most young graduates, I entered the job market eager to get started - only to face a wall of rejections. The standard response? "You are too young and you don't have enough practical experience."
Instead of accepting defeat, I took a blank sheet of paper in 1999 and wrote an open letter titled "Too young and without experience". That single, unconventional move got published, caught the eye of an executive, and landed me my very first job in finance.
The traditional educational system teaches us how things should work in theory. It gives you textbooks, grades, and frameworks. But building a regulated corporate group, negotiating multi-million-dollar structures, or navigating volatile global markets is never decided in a classroom. Real-world business is decided in the engine room of daily action.
If you don't have the experience yet, you cannot wait for someone to hand you an opportunity on a silver platter. You have to step up, break conventional rules, and create the opportunity yourself.
The Fintech Boutique: Bootstrapped Passion and Organic Community ⚙️
Building global financial infrastructure is often associated with massive venture capital rounds, aggressive burning of cash, and chasing quick valuations. But when we started our journey five years ago, we chose a fundamentally different path.
We built what I like to call a "Fintech Boutique" - crafting our ecosystem step by step, bootstrapping our foundation, and growing organically without relying on heavy external investor capital in the early stages.
This week, during intensive meetings with potential international strategic partners and investors, this approach paid off in a powerful way. When you show up with a battle-tested, revenue-generating ecosystem that you built with your own sweat equity, the conversation completely shifts.
Just minutes after one of our online presentations this week, I received a short WhatsApp message from my conversation partner. It read simply: "I saw the passion."

They invest in the unyielding passion, resilience, and execution power of the people behind the project. Building from the ground up without shortcuts creates a level of authenticity that no amount of venture capital can ever buy.
Timeless Mentors: Clienting and Why Success Needs a Face 💡
In our digital, AI-driven era, business often feels increasingly transaction-focused and anonymous. But if there is one lesson that has guided my entire career, it is that B2B is always H2H - Human to Human.
This week, I was reminded of a pivotal moment in my life: a personal dinner I had back in July 2015 in Düsseldorf with the legendary author and sales pioneer Edgar K. Geffroy, who sadly passed away.
Edgar was a true visionary. His ground-breaking concept of "Clienting" shifted the entire paradigm from high-pressure selling to creating an irresistible pull. His core conviction was simple yet revolutionary: "Success needs a face."
Reading his books years ago was the exact spark that inspired me to innovate with my first book, "You Just Gotta Do It", where I became one of the very first authors in the DACH region to integrate interactive QR codes and video links directly into the printed pages.
Technology and AI can scale efficiency, speed, and data processing. But they can never replace human connection, genuine empathy, and personal trust. Whether you are leading a team, serving clients, or building a global fintech ecosystem: put a face to your mission, treat clients as human beings, and build relationships that stand the test of time.
No matter how sophisticated your systems or how advanced your tech stack becomes: real-world success is always built on execution over theory, bootstrapped passion over hype, and authentic human relationships over anonymous transactions.
Stay focused and trust the process.
